“Wu Tong” is a typeface I designed based on the organic shapes found on plane trees which formed themselves by the shedding of bark. This project started when I was walking in the street of Shanghai and seeing an ad. It sparked my realization of the transient nature of life and inspired me to capture a font that embodies this fragmented aesthetic, conveying the delicate balance between growth and decay, much like the ever-changing surface of the tree’s bark.
